How to Test Your New Store is Working

StoreConnect is a powerful ecommerce solution for Salesforce. Adding StoreConnect to your Salesforce Org1 provides a direct link between your Salesforce database and your ecommerce clients. Unlike other ecommerce solutions, StoreConnect retains Salesforce as your company’s single source of truth2.

Once you have populated your StoreConnect site with products, pages, media, etc you will be ready to publish your site live online. This means your site will be available on the internet for consumers to begin interacting with it.

Choose your time wisely

As your site will be live on the internet, we recommend choosing the most off-peak time to 1) publish the site, and 2) perform the subsequent checks below. This ensures your users will have minimal engagement with your site whilst providing you the opportunity to correct any undesirable outcomes.

Once you have published your site

We recommend running through these basic checks once you have published your site.

  1. Check you can visit your domain name3 in a private browser window. Using a private browser window ensures the site is using live not cached4 information.
  2. Confirm someone else can likewise visit your domain.
  3. Confirm SSL5 is on. You should see the prefix https:// before your domain name.
  4. Run through a purchase from beginning to end, including making a live purchase using your own credit card.
  5. Confirm the order you created shows up in Salesforce with the Account and Contact information correct.
  6. Repeat 4 & 5 for each payment type and available shipping method.

Optional if installed:

  1. Salesforce Org: The virtual space provided to an individual customer of Salesforce. It includes all of your data, records, etc and applications. A Salesforce Org, or “Org” for short is an abbreviation of “organisation”.

  2. Single-Source-of-Truth: Single Source of Truth (SSOT) is the practice of bringing data from many systems into one single location. Thereby, any subsequent connecting system/s do not hold or store any separating data. Instead they call on the data from this new reference point being the single source of truth

  3. Domain name: The website name owned by a person, or company. For instance, getstoreconnect.com is a domain name owned by StoreConnect. The word, “domain” means “property” or “territory”.

  4. Cache: A cache (pronounced, “cash”) is built into a web browser to store images, text and other information for future use such as revisiting the same page at a later date. Its purpose is to speed up the time it takes to display web pages by holding previously downloaded information to use again.

  5. SSL: Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) defines the technology used to keep internet connections secure. It uses high level cryptography to protect sensitive information from being read or modified by malicious sources.

  6. Web-to-Lead: The process of using a website form to capture visitor information and store that information as a new lead in Salesforce. Refer to Web-to-Lead in Salesforce for more information.

  7. Web-to-Case: The process of gathering customer support requests directly from your company’s website and automatically generate new Support cases within Salesforce.
